The battle between New England and Seattle is right around the corner but the biggest competitor this week is AMC’s The Walking Dead. Mentions of the NFL/Super Bowl were strong enough to propel the big game up five places to rank just behind the zombie drama. Mentions should grow before kickoff this Sunday so look for changes at the top much like what we saw after last year’s championship game.
CW saw the return of their superhero dramas this past week and while The Flash remained steady at #9, Arrow shot up four spots – tying a series best at #11 – previously accomplished during the final week of November 2014.
Award season has been kind to Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. With an increase of seven places in our standings this week, the premium service program moved up to #13. As the wins and nominations continue to come in, look for the program to be a steady mover in our rankings as we build closer to the season three premiere.
After a two week absence at the top, CBS is once again the most represented network in our Top 20 this week. The additions of CSI and Scorpion gave CBS five programs while ABC was tied with FOX as the second most represented network with three programs apiece.
New programs in our Top 20: CBS’ CSI (#14) and Scorpion (#17), NBC’s Grimm (#18) and ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder (#19).
