FX’s American Horror Story returned to the air last week and mentions of the program were strong enough to vault it up from #8 to #5 on this week’s TOMAmeter. The zany cast of characters does however, have a tough act to follow as AMC’s The Walking Dead kicked off its newest season with some of the highest mentions of all time, cementing its place at the top for another week.
Two of broadcasts biggest returning series both had strong performances in this week’s rankings. ABC’s Scandal jumped up three places to #7, just behind ABC’s other successful Shonda Rhimes show, How to Get Away with Murder. FOX’s Sleepy Hollow also moved up three spots to become our 12th most mentioned program this week.
With news trickling out about the new season and HBO announcing their new standalone service, Game of Thrones has snuck back into the Top 20 at #11 after missing the cut last week.
ABC’s new comedy Black-ish saw its three week run in the Top 20 come to an end, while CW’s The Flash slips to #8 after a strong debut at #5 last week. CBS’ Scorpion has also been falling in the rankings. After coming in at #8 just a week ago, the new drama has dropped to #13 this week.
CBS was once again the most represented network in our Top 20 this week with four programs. However, CW makes a surprising push with three programs – tying with ABC and FOX for second.

No longer in our Top 20 this week: CBS’ Criminal Minds (previously #16), ABC’s Black-ish (previously #17) and NBC’s Law and Order (previously #19).
