A few new broadcast programs made their debut on the air this past week and mentions of the programs were strong. FOX’s highly anticipated program, Gotham, moved up three places to leapfrog over CBS’ The Big Bang Theory and earn the top spot this week. Joining Gotham in the Top 10 is ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder (up twelve places to #6) and CBS’ Scorpion (up seven spots to #9).
Two new ABC broadcast programs made their TOMAmeter debut this week with Black-ish landing at #15 and Forever claiming the #17 place.
Returning on television and in our rankings this week were ABC’s Once Upon a Time (#10) and Grey’s Anatomy (#18), while NBC’s The Voice gained eight places moving into #7, ABC’s Scandal is up six spots to #6 and FOX’s Sleepy Hollow moved up eight places in the standings to #11.
With all of these fall programs shaking up the Top 20, it is no surprise that some of familiar faces of the summer are starting to fade from our memories. Netflix’s Orange is the New Black is down four places to #12 and HBO’s Game of Thrones fell seven spots to #16, a place so unfamiliar in the standings that the program hasn’t seen a ranking so low since the beginning of November 2013!
The fall has been kind to ABC. With the addition of four programs this week, the network now has eight (!) programs in the Top 20 followed by the summer stalwart CBS, which had four.
New programs in our Top 20: CBS’ Survivor (#14), ABC’s Once Upon a Time (#10), Black-ish (#15), Forever (#17) and Modern Family (#18).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: NFL/Superbowl (previously #11), CBS’ Under the Dome (previously #12) and Criminal Minds (previously #17) as well as FOX’s Red Band Society (previously #13).
