CBS’ The Big Bang Theory leapfrogged over AMC’s The Walking Dead by the narrowest of margins but nonetheless is our most mentioned program this week. This marks the first time The Big Bang Theory earned the honor and also knocked The Walking Dead out of the top spot for the first time since July.
Also making moves in the Top 5 this week is FOX’s new fall premiere Gotham, which moved up four places to #4. Gotham was the first new fall broadcast program to crack the Top 20, later the Top 10 and now the Top 5.
Last fall NBC had a breakout hit with The Blacklist and it looks like mentions of the show are picking up where they left off. The Blacklist moved up four spots to #5 where the highest ranking it’s had since November 2013.
It was a strong week for reality competition programming, which is building momentum after recent premieres. ABC’s Dancing with the Stars moved up from #16 to #7 and NBC’s The Voice cracked the Top 20 landing at #16.
After nearly toppling CBS as the network with the most mentioned programs, ABC has tied the Tiffany Network with five programs in the Top 20 thanks to the addition of Modern Family. Fox had a strong week with two additions (albeit with one program dropping out) giving the network three programs in our rankings this week.
New programs in our Top 20: FOX’s Red Band Society (#13) and Sleepy Hollow (#19), NBC’s The Voice (#15), CBS’ Scorpion (#16) and ABC’s Modern Family (#20).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: AMC’s Breaking Bad (previously #11), FOX’s Utopia (previously #14), HBO’s True Blood (previously #18) and Boardwalk Empire (previously #19) and CBS’ CSI (previously #20).
