Discovery’s popular special, Shark Week,has chomped its way into our rankings, coming in at #16. However, the popular event could not best last year’s debut when the week long series came in at #11. Mentions of Shark Week last year were only strong enough to keep it in the Top 20 for one week, so only time will tell if this year’s event has the resolve to stay afloat.
It was a strong week for a couple of broadcast competition programs as CBS’ Big Brother jumped up five places to #10 and NBC’s America’s Got Talent bounced back from a disappointing showing last week by moving up seven spots to #11.
TNT’s The Last Ship is cruising toward it’s finale in a week’s time but respondents are already waving goodbye. After hovering in or just outside the Top 10 for the past seven weeks, The Last Ship has sunk seven places to #17 in this week’s rankings.
By airing a marathon this past Sunday (and every Sunday until October) AMC’s Breaking Bad has shot back up into the Top 20, landing at #12. Look for this stalwart to remain on respondents minds in the next coming weeks.
Two broadcast networks go unrepresented in our Top 20 this week as ABC and CW programming failed to make the cut. Once again, CBS keeps the crown with seven programs while FOX, HBO, NBC and AMC each had two programs in the rankings this week.
