With the first Republican debate last week, the 2016 Election enters the top of mind awareness rankings for the first time, coming in at #17. With over a year left until the election, this is certainly not the last time to expect the election be among the leaders in awareness.

Mentions for The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Orange is the New Black continue to dominate the top three spots, though the gap between the three begins to widen. The Walking Dead re-claims the #1 spot after a couple months. Rounding out the top five are CBS stalwarts NCIS and The Big Bang Theory.

As the summer TV season wraps up, summer programs like Zoo and Under the Dome begin to slip down in the rankings. Additionally, following its summer finale, Wayward Pines (previously #16) drops out of the top twenty altogether. Meanwhile, True Detective rises as it heads into its finale. Fear the Walking Dead and Pretty Little Liars also improve in the rankings.

CBS continues as the top network, with six shows in the top twenty. ABC, AMC, the CW, HBO, and NBC, all follow with two programs apiece.

Criminal Minds (previously #17) and The Bachelorette / The Bachelor (previously #13) both drop out of the TOMAmeter, while Arrow (#15) and Law and Order (#19) return.

Each week, Ipsos MediaCT TV Dailies seeks to find out what television shows have people talking. Collecting over 5,000 unaided responses among persons ages 13-64, TV Dailies produces a top of mind awareness meter (TOMAmeter) that details the 20 most spontaneously mentioned television shows.

Here are your TOMAmeter results for August 3 – 9.
