After a six week absence, FOX’s Empire has returned to #2, coming in just behind AMC’s The Walking Dead. Empire has been growing every week as it builds toward it season finale, so look for the popular drama to remain at the top of the rankings as we head into spring.
Netflix’s House of Cards jumped up five places to #5, while CBS’ CSI and ABC’s Once Upon a Time also improved five spots in the standings, shifting to #8 and #13 respectively. These two programs represent the highest increase in our standings this week.
NBC’s Saturday Night Live debuted in the Top 20 at #11 this week after the highly talked about anniversary special just a few weeks ago. This marks the first time mentions of Saturday Night Live were strong enough to break through the Top 20.
CW’s Arrow and The Flash are taking an abbreviated break from airing original episodes, which hurt their performance in our Top 20. Both programs fell out of the rankings this week, but will be returning to the air in the middle of March so look for their triumphant reappearance as we advance through the month.
FOX’s Last Man on Earth just missed the cut along with ABC’s Secrets and Lies and American Crime.
ABC lost two programs in our Top 20 this week, while CBS gained one so the Tiffany network just barely beat out ABC as the most represented network by having five programs to ABC’s four. FOX and NBC both had strong weeks with three programs apiece. This is the most programs NBC has had in the Top 20 since November 2014 (fourteen weeks ago).
New programs in our Top 20: NBC’s Saturday Night Live (#11), FOX’s American Idol (#16), CBS’ Survivor (#19) and Netflix’s Orange is the New Black (#20).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: ABC’s The Oscars/Academy Awards (previously #3), ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy (previously #20) and CW’s Arrow (previously #15) and The Flash (previously #16).
