FOX’s Empire made an impressive debut in our rankings this week, climbing all the way up to #5. ABC witnessed similar success with their musical comedy Galavant, as well as their new drama Marvel’s Agent Carter as the two programs made their introductions to the Top 20 at #9 and #13 respectively.
FOX’s American Idol returned to the Top 20 for the first time since June 2014 and sang its way all the way up to #8 this week.
After a tremendous jump last week, ABC’s Scandal fell six places to #14. Similarly, FX’s Sons of Anarchy took a tumble, representing the steepest decline of the week, dropping nine spots to #19. This may be the program’s final appearance in the Top 20 forever.
A big push from Galavant and Marvel’s Agent Carter helped propel ABC to become our most represented network this week. With five programs in the Top 20, ABC edges out CBS, which had four programs make the cut, while FOX lurks in the background with three of the most mentioned programs this week.
New programs in our Top 20: FOX’s Empire (#5) and American Idol (#8), as well as ABC’s Galavant (#9) and Marvel’s Agent Carter (#13).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: New Year’s Eve/Day events (previously #11), FOX’s Family Guy (previously #14), CW’s Arrow (previously #17) and AMC’s Breaking Bad (previously #18).
Each week, Ipsos MediaCT TV Dailies seeks to find out what television shows have people talking. Collecting over 5,000 unaided responses among persons ages 13-64, TV Dailies produces a top of mind awareness meter (TOMAmeter) that details the 20 most spontaneously mentioned television shows.
Here are your TOMAmeter results for January 5- 11.
