AMC’s The Walking Dead has crawled its way back up to #1 in our TOMAmeter after the release of an extended trailer at this year’s Comic Con. Netflix’s Orange is the New Black was a few mentions behind the zombie drama, so look for this to be a close race again next week.
Climbing back up the rankings this week was FX’s new vampire drama, The Strain, which has not been shy on the action and thrills over the course of the first few episodes. The Strain had the greatest movement this week, jumping up four places to #10.
After struggling for a number of weeks in the standings, FOX’s 24: Live Another Day has fallen completely out of the Top 20. But, new FOX program Gotham, which will be making its debut this fall, has already made its debut in our rankings. Our 17th most mentioned program this week marks the first new 2014 fall broadcast program to reach the Top 20.
Nick or Josh, Josh or Nick? That is the choice that ABC’s The Bachelorette Andi Dorfman faced this past week when she had to make her decision. Thanks to that final decision, mentions of the program were strong enough to crack the Top 20, helping the program make its way up to #16 this week.
The loss of one CBS program this week was hardly noticeable as the network continues to surge into the fall with a firm grasp on the most mentioned programs each week. With another six programs in this week, CBS was chased by ABC, FOX, AMC, and HBO which were represented by two programs apiece.
New programs in our Top 20: ABC’s The Bachelorette/Bachelor (#16) and Once Upon a Time (#18), FOX’s Gotham (#17) and CW’s Supernatural (#20).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: NBC’s Law and Order (previously #15), CBS’ CSI (previously #18), FOX’s 24: Live Another Day (previously #19) and Netflix’s House of Cards (previously #20).
Each week, Ipsos MediaCT TV Dailies seeks to find out what television shows have people talking. Collecting over 5,000 unaided responses among persons ages 13-64, TV Dailies produces a top of mind awareness meter (TOMAmeter) that details the 20 most spontaneously mentioned television shows.
Here are your TOMAmeter results for July 28 – August 3.
