TOMAmeter April 7– 13: The Walking Dead Has Been Dethroned

HBO’s Game of Thrones has swapped places with AMC’s The Walking Dead as the premium cable smash hit returned to capture our attention for its fourth season this past week. With The Walking Dead concluding its season a few weeks ago, expect a lengthy reign at the top for HBO’s signature program.

ABC’s Scandal is getting closer and closer to its season 3 finale and respondents have been taking note. Mentions of the program were strong enough to lift the show into the Top 10, landing at #6 after coming in at #11 last week.

Speaking of finales, CBS’ How I Met Your Mother is off the air for good and is making its way down our TOMAmeter rankings. After dropping 7 spots to #10, there are suspicions that How I Met Your Mother may not have the staying power that AMC’s Breaking Bad continues to have since going off air (currently #16).

ABC’s Greys Anatomy was our biggest mover this week. After missing out on the Top 20 since the middle of December, the popular hospital drama which just aired its 215^th episode, jumped up to #11.

For the second straight week, ABC was the most represented network with 5 programs spread out through the Top 20 but this week CBS also saw 5 programs of their own in our rankings. NBC, with 4 programs in the Top 20, finished just behind ABC and CBS but ahead of FOX which only saw 2 programs within the Top 20 most mentioned this past week.

New programs in our Top 20: ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy (#11), CBS’ CSI (#13) and Criminal Minds (#20), A&E’s Duck Dynasty (#15) and NBC’s Believe (#17).

Falling out of our Top 20 this week were: NBC’s Law & Order (previously #15), FOX’s The Following (previously #16) and Bones (previously #19), CBS’ Survivor (previously #17) and Netflix’s House of Cards (previously #20).
